abstract A method of sending feedback from an access terminal, AT, to a base transceiver station, BTS, of a radio network configured to communicate with the access terminal using the technique of multiple inputs, multiple outputs, MIMO, comprising the procedure the steps of: determining MIMO range information of a first direct link between the BTS and the AT; determine MIMO space signature information from the direct link; and simultaneously transmit (1) the MIMO range information and the spatial signature information in a phase signal component of a reverse link between the BTS and the AT, and (2) data transmission rate control information, DRC , for a direct link in a quadrature signal component of the reverse link, in which the MIMO range information and the MIMO spatial signature information are covered by a code word Walsh cover.
