titleOfInvention DRUG ELUTION FOR IMPLANTABLE INCONTINENCE DEVICES.
abstract A device for incontinence (10, 100) to prevent urinary, intestinal or esophageal losses, comprising: an occlusive element (12, 102) adapted to be implanted in a host and arranged around a body duct (52, 152) for waste disposal; a control mechanism (14, 104) operatively connected to the occlusive element (12, 102), said control mechanism (14, 104) including an activator (11, 101) and a deactivator (13, 103), adapted to be implanted in the host and to control that said occlusive element (12, 102) close the body duct (52, 152) in an occluded state or open the body duct (52, 152) in a non-occluded state; characterized in that it further comprises a drug coating (18, 28) that includes a biological influence composition thereof, said drug coating (18, 28) being arranged as a layer on an external surface of both said occlusive element (12 , 102) as of said control mechanism (14, 104), including the activator (11, 101) and the deactivator (13, 103), said drug coating (18, 28) being adapted to elute the biological influence composition towards the surrounding tissue of the host, in which said drug coating (18, 28) minimizes capsular formation resulting from a host body response and facilitates the function of the incontinence device in the prevention of urinary or intestinal losses.
