abstract A process for producing an alkali metal hydrogen carbonate, comprising reacting an aqueous solution containing alkali metal ions with carbon dioxide in a crystallizer to precipitate alkali metal hydrogen carbonate crystals, characterized in that a part of the suspension containing said crystals in said aqueous solution, it is removed from said crystallizer, and after dissolving a part of said crystals, in which the large crystals partially dissolve, it is returned to said crystallizer, and in which the part of said crystals present in the suspension is dissolves by adjusting the pressure of said suspension removed from said crystallizer so that it is lower than the pressure in said crystallizer.
