titleOfInvention | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FILLING SYRINGES WITH SHORT NEEDLES. |
abstract | A fluid transfer system for use in the transfer of a medicinal substance from a medication container having a septum with a predetermined thickness in a delivery device, comprising: a reservoir (18) within said delivery device (1 ) adapted to store a medicinal substance; a needle cannula (4) attached to said delivery device (1) that has a light in fluid communication to said reservoir (18) and that has a front tip (6) extending away from said supply device (1) a preselected useful length, wherein said useful length is less than a thickness of said septum of said container; an adapter body (5) that includes: a part that houses a container (58), said part that houses a container (58) has a septum access needle (70), and a longitudinal projection (54) extending from said adapter body (50), said projection (54) including an adapter septum (60) having a thickness, and a distal part (62); wherein the thickness of said adapter septum (60) is less than the useful length of said needle cannula (4) and said distal portion (62) is in fluid communication with said septum access needle light (74); wherein when said container is housed in said part that houses the container (58) and said needle (4) of the delivery device penetrates through said septum of the adapter (60), a fluid communication is established between said substance in said container and said reservoir (18) of said delivery device (1). |
