abstract Process for coating a substrate, particularly a medical device, with a biomimetic composition, comprising: a) batch producing in a closed system a biomimetic acidified composition comprising an aqueous saline mixture containing calcium, magnesium, phosphate ions and bicarbonate and a bioactive substance, b) contact the substrate with said biomimetic composition and c) store the biomimetic composition in contact with the substrate and allow a gradual increase in pH to occur and cause the precipitation of salts and coprecipitation of the bioactive substance in said substrate and obtain a coated substrate, said bioactive substance being selected from the group consisting of an osteogenic growth factor, a factor that promotes cell growth, an angiogenesis factor, a lipogenic factor, an antibiotic substance, a protein, a vitamin, a hormone, an inhibitor, a gene or fragment of a gene that you display tra effects similar to those of growth factors.
