abstract Procedure for obtaining trioxane from trioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether (POMDMEn = 3) by means of the transformation of trioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether in the presence of an acid catalyst and then elaboration by distillation of the reaction mixture, with the steps consisting of: a ) feeding the trioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether (POMDMEn = 3) or a mixture, containing trioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether, in a reactor and converting in the presence of an acid catalyst to give a mixture, containing trioxane, formaldehyde, water, methylene glycol (MG), polyoxymethylene glycols (MGn> 1), methanol, semi-formal (HF), methyl (POMDMEn = 1) and polyoxymethylene glycol dimethyl ethers (POMDMEn> 1); b) separation by distillation of the reaction mixture a into a fraction of low-boiling products b1, containing formaldehyde, water, methylene glycol, methanol, semi-formal (HFn = 1), methylal and dioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether (POMDMEn = 2) and a fraction of products of high boiling point b2, containing trioxane, polyoxymethylene glycols (MGn> 1), semi-formal (HFn> 1) and polyoxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether (POMDMEn> 2); c) separation by distillation of the fraction of high boiling products b2 in a fraction of low boiling products c1, containing trioxane, and in a fraction of high boiling products c2, containing polyoxymethylene glycols (MGn> 1), semiformal (HFn> 1) and polyoxymethylene glycol dimethyl ethers (POMDMEn> 2).
