abstract | A method for producing biologically active recombinant polypeptide in a crop of duckweed plants or a culture of duckweed nodules, comprising the steps of: (a) growing a culture of duckweed into a culture medium for duckweed duckweed plants or a culture of duckweed nodules, wherein said duckweed crop or said duckweed culture is stably transformed to express said biologically active recombinant polypeptide, and wherein said polypeptide Biologically active recombinant is expressed from a nucleotide sequence comprising a coding sequence for said recombinant polypeptide and a coding sequence operatively connected to a signal peptide that directs the secretion of the recombinant polypeptide; and (b) collecting said recombinant polypeptide from the culture medium for water lentils; wherein said signal peptide sequence is selected from: (a) the human interferon α-2b signal peptide; (b) the Arabidopsis thaliana chitinase signal peptide; (c) the rice α-amylase signal peptide; and (d) the modified rice α-amylase peptide indicated in SEQ ID NO: 7. |
