titleOfInvention | A TEST AND METHOD DEVICE FOR DETECTING THE PRESENCE OF AN ANALYTE RESIDUE IN A SAMPLE. |
abstract | A method that uses a lateral flow test strip to determine if one or more members of a family of analytes, comprising beta-lactam antibiotics, is present in a test sample, said method comprising: b) allowing said sample to come into contact with a beta-lactam microbial receptor, wherein said receptor is characterized by an ability to bind members of said family of analytes, to allow said receptor to join one or more members of said family of analytes in said sample; b) allowing said sample to come into contact with an additional analyte binder, said additional analyte binder having binding specificity for at least one member of said family of analytes to which said receptor binds, so that there is competition between the receptor and the additional analyte binder to bind said at least one analyte, said competition causing a decrease in test sensitivity, relative to said at least one member, at a selected threshold level; and c) detecting said one or more members of said family of analytes. |
