A fibrous composite material comprising a thermoplastic polymer as the matrix phase and silk fibers as the reinforcement phase, wherein the silk fibers are organized in said compound in at least two directions, characterized in that a) the tensile strength of said material compound varies less than 15% between the fiber directions of the silk fibers comprised in the compound, b) the torsion of the fibers, if incorporated into threads, is less than 2000 turns / meter, c) said polymer matrix has a tensile modulus of less than 1000 MPa and a tensile tensile deformation greater than 300%, and d) the silk fibers are equivalent to at least 25% of the volume of the compound. |
