Matrix for sequencing a nucleic acid, comprising: a cavity wafer of optical fibers formed from a beam of a plurality of individual optical fibers, each individual optical fiber having a diameter of between 3 and 100 µm, the wafer comprising a top surface and a lower surface, the upper surface comprising more than 400,000 reaction chambers, in which the reaction chambers are engraved on the upper surface of the cavitated optical fiber wafer and in which the thickness of the wafer between the upper surface and the bottom surface has a thickness between 0.5 mm and 5.0 mm; wherein the depth of each reaction chamber is between one half of the diameter of the individual optical fiber and three times the diameter of the individual optical fiber, and in which a plurality of reaction chambers on the upper surface of the Cavitated wafer has a nucleic acid therein, and in which 50% to 100% of the reaction chambers can have a mobile solid support with a sequencing enzyme immobilized thereon. |
