abstract | Use of highly functional, highly branched or hyperbranched polycarbonates, which can be obtained by means of a) obtaining one or more condensation products (K) either by means of (a1) the reaction of at least one organic carbonate (A) of the general formula RO [(CO) O] nR with at least one aliphatic, aliphatic / aromatic or aromatic alcohol (B1), having at least 3 OH groups, with the elimination of ROH alcohols, R being constituted respectively, independently of each other, by a straight chain or branched chain, aliphatic, aromatic / aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon moiety having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and the R moieties may also be linked together with formation of a ring, and n means an integer between 1 and 5 or (a2) the reaction of phosgene, diphosgene or triphosgene with said aliphatic, aliphatic / aromatic or aromatic alcohol (B1), with release of hydrogen chloride, and b) the intermolecular reaction of the condensation products (K) to give a highly functional, highly branched or hyperbranched polycarbonate, the quantitative relationship between the OH groups and the phosgens or carbonates being chosen in the reaction mixture such that the condensation products (K) have on average either a carbonate group or a carbamoyl chloride group and more than one OH group or an OH group and more than one carbonate group or a carbamoyl chloride group, as auxiliary agent of fluidity in varnishes. |
