abstract | Improved process for the production of unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydrides of the general formula I ** (See formula) ** in which R represents an unsaturated organic moiety with 2 to 12 C atoms, by transanhydrization of an aliphatic carboxylic acid anhydride with a carboxylic acid of the general formula (II) ** (See formula) ** in which R has the meaning indicated above, in an apparatus, consisting of a reaction zone and a rectification column, characterized in that a) the substances reactants are fed in stoichiometric ratios to a reaction zone, b) the carboxylic acid that is formed as a secondary product is removed from the reaction mixture, c) then the carboxylic acid anhydride of the formula I formed is distilled, d ) the non-transformed reactants are returned to the reaction zone, e) the reaction zone contains a heterogeneous catalyst and f) one or more inhibitors of polymerization. |
