A medical device comprising: an implantable structure; a base cover matrix, which includes a combination of rapamycin and 2-methoxystradiol, in therapeutic doses, incorporated in a first polymeric material comprising a fluoropolymer, the base cover matrix being fixed to the surface of the implantable medical device; and an upper cover, which includes a second polymeric material comprising an acrylic polymer, fixed to the base cover matrix to control the elution rate of rapamycin and 2-methoxystradiol, in which the second polymeric material is incompatible with the first polymeric material, thus creating both a physical and chemical barrier for the elution of rapamycin and 2-methoxystradiol. |
