abstract A turbidimetric immunoassay for evaluating human Cystatin C in a human body liquid sample by: (a) forming a test mixture by contacting said sample with a nanoparticle-antibody conjugate, comprising nanoparticles suitable for turbidimetric measurement, in which said nanoparticles are coated with a coating of proteinaceous material comprising anti-human Cystatin C antibodies or fragments that bind to the antigen thereof, to bind to said Cystatin C, wherein said coated nanoparticles have an average diameter in the range from more than 58 nm to 200 nm, and (b) evaluate the human Cystatin C content by measuring the change in turbidity of said mixture; wherein the coating is such that said nanoparticles are coated with 10% to 35% of antibody that binds to human Cystatin C per total weight of the nanoparticles-antibody conjugate.
