IMPROVED PEROXIDASES. |
abstract |
Enhanced peroxidases.n n n The present invention relates to fungal peroxidases improved in their ability to oxidize phenolic compounds. Said improvement is obtained by a procedure based on the identification of specific amino acids of the main channel of access to heme and its modification by mutagenesis techniques. The modification of these amino acids in the versatile peroxidase of the fungus Pleurotus eryngii , consisting of the substitution by residues without side chain and / or with less positive electrostatic charge, increased the catalytic efficiency of said peroxidase up to nine times. The improved peroxidases according to the invention are of interest as biocatalysts for those industrial or environmental applications that require the oxidative modification of phenolic compounds in the food, detergent, textile and chemical sectors, and in particular those related to the use of lignocellulosic materials . |
