titleOfInvention | ULTRASOUND HAND PIECE. |
abstract | Ultrasonic handpiece system, comprising: an ultrasonic handpiece (10) having a handpiece shell (11), a plurality of piezoelectric elements (14) connected to an ultrasonic horn (12), being the piezoelectric elements and the horn attached within the shell, a suction duct (50) and a drive means (24) to apply a driving signal having a first frequency and a second frequency to drive the piezoelectric elements, the Piezoelectric elements (14) responsive to the application of the drive signal so that the application of the drive signal presenting the first frequency to the piezoelectric elements produces torsional movement in the horn and the application of the drive signal presenting the second frequency produces longitudinal movement in the horn, characterized in that the system further comprises a sensor (60) pair to detect the vacuum in the suction duct and provide the detected vacuum to the drive means (34), in which the drive means are configured to apply the drive signal having the second frequency when the vacuum detected in the duct suction exceeds a predetermined threshold. |
