abstract Procedure to produce tomato plantsnWith long life characteristics.n n n The present invention relates to the use of a SNP in the nor tomato gene as a marker to identify tomato plants, to produce tomato plants, and to produce seeds that are regenerated in tomato plants with long-lived characteristics. It also refers to a procedure for identifying said tomato plants, as well as a procedure for producing them comprising providing a Solanum lycopersicum plant that contains alleles that are characterized by said mutation in the nor gene, crossing said plant with crop material from S. lycopersicum , collect the seeds resulting from said crossing, regenerate the seeds in plants, and identify and select the plants that contain the aforementioned long life characteristic using said SNP. Finally, it also refers to a procedure to produce seeds that are regenerated in tomato plants that have long-lived characteristics.
