abstract Process for preparing 3-fluorinated quinoleins of general formula (I): ** (See formula) ** in which R1, R2, R3 and R4, identical or different, represent: - a hydrogen or fluorine atom; - a linear, branched or cyclic alkyl radical, optionally substituted by one to three fluorine atoms, by an OR5 group in which R5 represents a linear or branched alkyl radical, a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy radical protecting group, or by a group NR''R '' '' in which R '' and R '' '', identical or different, represent a linear or branched alkyl radical, a hydrogen atom or a protecting group of the amino radical; - an OR6 group, in which R6 represents a hydrogen atom, a phenol protecting group or a linear or branched alkyl radical, optionally substituted by one to three fluorine atoms, by an OR5 or NR''R '' group '', as defined above; - a group NR''1R '' '' ,, in which R''1 and R '' '' 1, have the values of R '' and R '' '' or represent a substituted linear or branched alkyl radical by one to three fluorine atoms, by an OR5 group as defined above or by a group NR''R '' '' as defined above; - a CO2Ra group, in which Ra represents a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched alkyl radical or a carboxy radical protecting group; - a phenyl radical or a heteroaryl radical, optionally substituted by one or more of the above-mentioned substituents, characterized in that a compound of general formula (IV) is subjected: ** (See formula) ** in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 are defined as above, to a Hofmann degradation to obtain a compound of general formula (III): ** (See formula) ** in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 are defined as above, which are treated in the conditions that allow the formation of the diazonium salt of general formula (II): ** (See formula) ** in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 are defined as above, which are heated in an inert organic solvent.
