The present invention relates to a method for thensystematic detection and quantification of palitoxin and its derivativesn(PLTXs) in problem samples by using cellsnexcitable and a selective cytotoxicity inhibitor ofnPLTXs Addition to contaminated problem sample cellsnwith PLTXs, cell viability decreases proportionally to thenconcentration of existing PLTXs in the sample. The presence ofnPLTXs toxicity inhibitor during exposure ofncells to problem samples contaminated with PLTXs preventnspecifically its toxicity. The comparison of the levels ofnsurvival of cells treated with the sample contaminated withnPLTXs regarding the values obtained in cultures treated withnVariable concentrations of purified PLTX allow to determine thenconcentration of PLTXs present in the sample.
