PROVISION OF MICROSALIENTS PRESENTED BY A COVERING CONTAINING A BENEFICIAL AGENT. |
abstract |
Device (5) for supplying a beneficial agent through the cornea layer, the device comprising: a plurality of perforating microsalients of the cornea layer (10) having a width and thickness of about 5 microns to about 50 microns; and a solid coating (50) disposed on at least a portion of said microsalient having a thickness of from about 1 to about 50 microns, wherein said solid coating includes at least one beneficial agent and at least one biocompatible carrier soluble in water; and said coating is adapted to be placed in contact with the body fluid after the microalients have perforated the corneal layer, in which the coating (50) disposed on at least a part of said microalient (10) is a composition that it comprises a beneficial agent and a biocompatible carrier, in which said composition can be applied to the microalients in liquid form and is adapted to form a solid coating in said microsalient arrangement, and in which the solid coating is adapted to allow release of the beneficial agent from the coating during the hydration of the coating. |
