| abstract | An apparatus for performing a medical procedure comprising: - an elongated flexible member (A) having an opening that extends longitudinally through, said member having an opposite proximal and distal end; - an actuator (2) positioned within the opening, said actuator having a proximal end and an opposite distal end; - a biopsy device (3) connected to the distal end of the actuator for cutting and collecting biopsy samples (6) of controlled size; - a storage and collection module (5) detachably connected to said elongated flexible member to receive biopsy samples (6) cut and collected by the biopsy device, in which the storage and collection module (5) has a storage chamber and an internal adhesive surface to adhere a mucosal biopsy cut or surface and thus, orient the biopsy samples collected in the storage chamber; - means for sealing the removable storage and collection module (5) before use or when said storage and collection module (5) has been separated from the flexible member for the storage and processing of biopsy samples (6) collected by the medium of biopsy in the order of collection; - in which the storage and collection module (5) incorporates a means for chemical, biological or genetic analysis by reacting with the biopsy samples before metabolic changes, degradation or contamination can occur, or in which the storage module and collection (5) is translucent to allow a visual inspection or spectometry, characterized in that the internal storage and collection module (5) is contained in a tube of the tip 81) at the distal end of said flexible member. |
