abstract Process for the preparation of 3,7-diaza-bicyclo [3.3.1] nonane compounds of the formula 1 ** (See formula) ** realizing that R means hydrogen, hydroxyl, C1-C4 alkyl; R1 means C1-C4 alkyl, C6-C10 aryl, pyridinyl-C1-C4 alkyl; R2 means C1-C4 alkyl, C6-C10 aryl; R3 means C1-C4 alkyl and X means C = O or C (OH) 2, (a) by reaction of a dicarboxylic acid ester of the formula (2) ** (See formula) ** with a pyridine-aldehyde of the formula (3) ** (See formula) ** as well as with an amine of the formula (4) R2-NH2 (4) to form a piperidone of the formula (5) ** (See formula) ** and (b) by reaction of the piperidones of the formula (5), obtained in this way, with formaldehyde and with an amine of the formula R1-NH2, with R, R1, R2 and R3 having the meanings mentioned above, characterized in that the step The reaction (a) is carried out in a C2-C4 alcohol and the reaction step (b) is carried out in a C3-C4 alcohol and the resulting reaction water is eliminated by an azeotropic distillation.
