abstract Aqueous solutions are presented containing an azo dye, useful as a reagent for the determination of residual chlorine dioxide, the solutions are stabilized by incorporating a borate neutralizer and one or more masking agents. A procedure is presented for the stabilization of aqueous solutions of an azo dye (I) that undergoes a change in color or color intensity in the presence of chlorine dioxide, by incorporating a borate neutralizer and masking agents.
