A method for evaluating the activity of hu-Asp1 alpha-secretase, which comprises the steps of: (a) contacting a hu-Asp1 polypeptide, which comprises an amino acid sequence identical in at least 95% to a fragment, which includes the DTG and DSG tripeptides of the active site of aspartyl proteases, of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2, in which the polypeptide and the fragment retain an alpha-secretase activity, with the precursor protein substrate of the amyloid (APP) that contains an alpha-secretase cleavage site, and (b) measure the cleavage of the APP substrate at the alpha-secretase cleavage site of hu-Asp1. |
