titleOfInvention DEVICE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND MONITORING OF HEPATIC ESTEATOSIS BASED ON THE MEASUREMENT OF ELECTRICAL IMPEDANCE.
abstract Apparatus for diagnosis and monitoring ofnliver steatosis based on impedance measurementnelectricn n n The present invention refers to ansystem to quickly determine the degree of steatosisnliver (fat in the liver) through a direct measure of thenHepatic electrical impedance at one or more frequencies. The measure isnperformed using surface or minimally invasive sensors, nbeing able to couple these to other medical devices (e.g.nlaparoscopic probes). Through an interpolation algorithmnbased on correlations between impedance and the percentage ofnliver fat in reference biopsies, the system is capable ofndetermine the degree of hepatic steatosis in the measured organ ofnimmediate form and without the need for another type of intervention. Thisnallows its application to procedures such as liver transplantation, nenabling a quick diagnosis of viability, as well as othersnSurgical procedures and explanted organs.
