abstract |
Method for detecting the presence of stem cells in a population of cells in vitro, comprising the step of putting said cell population in contact with a detectable substrate for aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) under conditions such that the ALDH that is present in the cells of said population converts said substrate into a detectable product that is retained by said cells that are present in said population, where said stem cells have a concentration of said detectable product that is higher than that of the non-stem cells that are present in said population, where the evacuation of said substrate from the cells of said population is inhibited by exposing said population of cells to a multiresistance drug inhibitor (MDR), and where said method does not include uses of human embryos for industrial purposes or commercial. |
