titleOfInvention BIOMASS SEPARATION OF FERMETATION PRODUCTS CONTAINING LACTIC ACID BY FLOCULATION.
abstract Process for the separation of biomass from a fermentation product containing lactate and lactic acid present in a fermentation broth: (a) subjecting the fermentation broth to an alkalification phase, (b) adding one or more flocculants, and (c) separating the aggregates of solid particles of the biomass from the fermentation broth containing lactate / lactic acid, where the fermentation broth is subjected to an alkalization residence time of between 1 second and 15 minutes, the alkalification residence time being the time between the increase of the pH to more than 9 and the separation of the aggregates of solid particles of the biomass.
