titleOfInvention COOLING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR STEAM COMPRESSION.
abstract A method of operating a refrigeration system with steam compression (10) in which an evaporator (16) removes heat from a medium that is circulated through said evaporator (16) in relation to heat exchange with a coil of evaporator in said evaporator (16), said evaporator coil including an input that is in fluid communication with an expansion device (18) and an output that is in fluid communication with a compressor (12), the method comprising: compressing a cooling fluid in said compressor (12); condensing said refrigerant fluid in a condenser (14) to form a condensed refrigerant fluid; expanding said condensed refrigerant fluid in said expansion device (18) to form an expanded refrigerant fluid, characterized by supplying said expanded refrigerant as a mixture of liquid refrigerant and steam to an evaporator supply line (28) connecting said expansion device (18) to said evaporator coil inlet; converting a significant amount of the liquid component of said vapor refrigerant mixture into said evaporator supply line (28), in which the diameter and length of said evaporator supply line (28) facilitates said conversion, resulting from this manner in the supply of refrigerant at the evaporator inlet having a substantial vapor content; convert substantially all of the remaining liquid into steam when said mixture passes through said evaporator coil, thereby providing effective heat transfer between said mixture and said medium over substantially the entire length of said coil, and with so that the accumulation of frost on said evaporator coil is substantially reduced.
