abstract A 1-arylsulfonyl-3-substituted indoline or indole derivative represented by the general formula I: (See formula) in which Ar is a carbocyclic group containing from 6 to 15 carbon atoms and consisting of 1,2 or 3 rings, at least one of them being an aromatic ring or a cyclic system containing from 2 to 14 carbon atoms and from 1 to 3 heteroatoms selected from O, S and N, the system consisting of 1, 2 or 3 rings, being at least one of them aromatic, with Ar being optionally substituted with 1 to 5 substituents selected from halogen, C1-C4 alkyl (optionally substituted with halogen), C1-C4, (C1-C4 alkyloxy) (optionally substituted with halogen), C6-C12 aryl (optionally substituted with halogen or C1-C4 alkyloxy)), C6-C12 aryloxy (optionally substituted with halogen), dialkyl (C1-C4) amino, C1-C4 alkanoyl or C1-C4 alkanolamino ; the dashed line represents an optional link; n is 0 or 1; m is 0 or 5; R6 represents 1 to 4 substituents independently selected from H, C1-C4 alkyl (optionally substituted with halogen), C1-C4 alkyloxy (optionally substituted with halogen), (C1-C4) alkyloxycarbonyl, cyano, nitro and halogen; R7 is H, C1-C4 alkyl, C6-C12 aryl, (C6-C12) aryl (C1-C4) alkyl; R7 together with R9 or one of the R8 completes a saturated ring of 4-, 5-, 6-, or 7- links; each R8 is independently H, C1-C4 alkyl or C6-C12 aryl (optionally substituted with halogen, C1-C4 alkyl or C1-C4 alkyloxy); or one of the R8 together with R7 or R9 or the R11 geminal complete a saturated ring of 4-, 5-, 6-, or 7 links; and each R8 is independently H, C1-C4 alkyl, or C6-C12 aryl (optionally substituted with halogen, C1-C4 alkyl, or C1-C4 alkyloxy); R9 and R10 are independently H, C1-C4 alkyl, C6-C12 aryl or (C6-C12) aryl (C1-C4) alkyl; or R9 and R10 together with the N to which a saturated or unsaturated ring system of 5-, 6 or 7 links are attached, optionally containing an O atom or other N atom, which may be substituted with C1 alkyl -C4 or C6-C12 aryl) (C1-C4) alkyl; or R9 together with R7 or one of the R8 complete a saturated or unsaturated ring of 5-, 6-, or 7 links; and R10 is H, C1-C4 alkyl, C6-C12 aryl, or (C6-C12) aryl (C1-C4) alkyl; or R10 and one of the R11 complete a saturated ring of 4-, 5-, 6-, or 7 links; each R11 is independently H or C1-C4 alkyl; or one of the R11 together with R10 or with the R8 geminal form a saturated ring of 4-, 5-, 6 or 7 links; and each of the other R11 is independently H or C1-C4 alkyl; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
