abstract |
A method for obtaining a human amniotic membrane and preparing it to be used as a surgical graft, comprising the steps of: cleaning the human placenta; separating said amniotic membrane from the placenta from its chorion; mounting said amniotic membrane on a substrate, with the epithelial surface of said membrane not facing the said substrate; and freezing and thawing said mounted amniotic membrane to kill the cells of said membrane without altering the integrity of the extracellular matrix. |
