titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR PREPARATION OF FABRIC CONDITIONING COMPOSITIONS.
abstract A process for the preparation of a fabric conditioning composition comprising mixing with water: (a) 7.5 to 60% by weight of a cationic fabric softener compound of the formula: (See formula) in which each R is independently selected from a C5-C35 alkyl or alkenyl group, R 1 represents a C1-C4 alkyl, C2-C4 alkenyl or C1-C4 hydroxyalkyl group, (See formula) n is 0 or a number selected from 1 to 4, m is 1, 2 or 3 and denotes the number of residues with which it is related that hang directly from the N atom, and X- is an anionic group, such as a halide or an alkyl sulfate, for example, chloride, methyl sulfate or ethyl sulfate; or (See formula) in which each R 1 group is independently selected from C 1 -C 4 alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, or C 2 -C 4 alkenyl groups; and wherein each R 2 group is independently selected from the C8-C28 alkyl or alkenyl groups; n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 5 and T and X- are as defined above; or (See formula) in which each R 1 group is independently selected from C1-C4 alkyl or C2-C4 alkenyl groups; and wherein each R 2 group is independently selected from the C8-C28 alkyl or alkenyl groups; n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 5 and T and X- are as defined above, said compound having one or more hydrocarbyl chains formed from fatty acyl compounds or parental fatty acids having an iodine number of 0 to 20; and (b) from 0.01% to 1.5% by weight of a viscosity modifying non-ionic surfactant; and (c) from 0.01% to 1.4% by weight of a non-alkoxylated fatty alcohol. wherein the combination of (b) and (c) is not more than 1.5% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition; the components (a), (b) and (c) are mixed to form an aqueous dispersion and the aqueous dispersion is subjected to high shear, below the phase transition temperature of the compound (a), or if the component (a) it has more than one phase transition temperature, below the lower of these, the phase transition temperature being the temperature at which the dispersed phase undergoes a transition to the Llambda laminar phase, in which the chains of the cationic softener will be in a liquid or more fluid state, to provide a composition having a viscosity of 10 to 250 mPa.s, measured at 20 s-1 using a Haake MV1 Rotoviscometer, at 25 ° C.
