Method for detoxification and purification ofnOrganic pollutants in bivalve molluscs and their application.n n n The present invention provides the use of N- acetyl- cysteine (NAC), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, to facilitate the detoxification and purification of organic contaminants in bivalve molluscs. NAC is able to stimulate the intracellular synthesis of glutathione and induce glutathione S -transferase and glutathione reductase activities in mussels, so it accelerates up to four times the elimination rate of pesticides from bivalve tissues as well as increasing Oxidative stress tolerance. |
