A hydrogen absorbing composition comprising an unsaturated organic substance and a hydrogenation catalyst, characterized in that the unsaturated organic substance is a compound having the general formula A or A '', a dimer or polymer thereof or a copolymer, in which one of the structural units has the general formula A or A '': wherein R1, R2 and R3 are hydrogen or hydrocarbon groups that optionally comprise one or more heteroatoms, at least one being selected from R1, R2 and R3 of the group consisting of alkenyl, alkynyl, arylalkenyl and aryl-alkynyl, optionally comprising one or more hetero atoms. |
