abstract | Process for the preparation of a sample for use in an assay, which comprises the following steps: (a) adding a polyalkylene glycol and magnetic particles to a sample to form a mixture, in which the magnetic particles are capable of non-binding specific to materials containing proteins contained in the mixture, and in which the mixture has a saline concentration of less than or equal to about 0.2 M; (b) precipitate the materials that contain proteins out of the mixture when the materials that contain proteins are bound not specifically to the magnetic particles, to form a precipitate and a supernatant; (c) discard the supernatant; and (d) isolate the precipitate to produce a prepared sample. |
