titleOfInvention | DEVICE FOR THE CONTROLLED RELEASE OF PHARMACOS. |
abstract | Device for controlled release ofndrugsn n n Drug release method based onncoatings on medical devices consisting ofnnanostructured inorganic materials, such as zeolites, sievesnmesoporous molecules, titanosilicates, and micro- and nanocapsulesnhollow mesoporous silica. The coatings are constitutednby individual particles, or by films thereofnmaterials. The coatings are applied to surfaces usednin medicine (intravascular stents or other devices thatnthey are inserted in the appropriate place of the organism in order tonrelease therapeutic substances). Individual particles ornwell the films that constitute the coating are carriersnof a drug, stored in micro or mesopores of the material, or innlarger internal cavities, as is the case with the spheresnof mesoporous silica. The porosity and thickness of each material andncoating controls the speed of diffusion of the drug. Theninorganic materials can be modified by giving them propertiesnsuitable (for example, magnetism). |
