abstract PCR protocol (polymerase chain reaction) for the detection and identification of Vibrio tapetis from pure cultures of the microorganism and shellfish tissues. The protocol is characterized by using as primers two specific oligonucleotides for this bacterial species directed to specific regions of the 16S RNA gene. The optimal conditions of the different steps of DNA amplification for the protocol are established. The protocol is fast, reliable and effective. It is applicable in the aquaculture sector.
