| abstract | Process for reforming gasoline hydrocarbons, which comprises subjecting a gasoline fraction containing naphthenes and paraffins in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst in a first reforming zone under superatmospheric pressure to a reforming reaction that includes dehydrogenation of naphthenes and hydrocracking of paraffins, separating normally gaseous products from the normally liquid reformed product, fractionally distilling the latter and thereby separating a fraction of low-boiling product containing isohexanes from a fraction boiling at a higher point, subjecting said fraction to a boiling higher than an extraction treatment and separating from it a fraction of aromatic hydrocarbons and a raffinate consisting largely of saturated hydrocarbons that include paraffins heavier than hexane, and subjecting said raffinate in a second reforming zone to reform at a pressure lower than the pressure at said pri mere area of reform. |
