abstract | A paper or cardboard manufacturing process which comprises the formation of a cellulosic suspension, flocculation of the suspension, mechanical shear of the suspension and refloculation of the suspension, drained from the suspension on a sieve to form a sheet, and then drying the leaf, where the suspension is flocculated by introducing a water soluble polymer, of an intrinsic viscosity above 3 dl / g in the suspension, in which the water soluble polymer is a cationic polymer that has been formed from a monomer or mixture of water soluble monomers which comprise at least one cationic monomer, wherein the cellulosic suspension is reflocated by introducing a flocculating material in which the flocculating material is selected from the group consisting of siliceous material which is in the form of a composition of anionic micro particles, anionic polysaccharides, soluble synthetic anionic polymer in water and cross-linked anionic microparticles, and where mechanical shearing is achieved by passing the flocculated cellulosic suspension through one or more selected shear stages from a centrifugal sieve and a vane pump, characterized in that said polymer has a value of the rheological oscillation of tan delta at 0.005 Hz above 1.1 (calculated on a 1.5% by weight aqueous solution of the polymer), |
