A process for preparing a poly (1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate) by reacting at least one relatively non-volatile diol having a boiling point greater than about 220 ° C with an ester of 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid in the presence of a transesterification catalyst, said process comprising carrying out said reaction at a series of temperatures less than 255 ° C that increase progressively, with a residence time in the range of 40-120 minutes at temperatures greater than 250 ° C. |
