abstract | Process for the manufacture of polycarbonate by melt transesterification of diaryl carbonate with dihydroxyaryl compounds, which contains a series of stages, characterized in that, in addition to the monohydroxyaryl compound, diaryl carbonate is also isolated in excess of the vapor streams , (i) incorporating the vapor stream formed at medium height to a first column, and (ii) separating the vapor stream into a head product, which contains the high purity monohydroxaryl compound, and into a boiler product, and (iii) the high purity monohydroxyaryl compound of (ii) being able to be used directly in the manufacturing process again, and (iv) by supplying the boiler product of (ii) again at medium height to a second column, and (v) by separating this first boiler product from the second column in a boiler product from the second column, which contains the high-point secondary products of e boiling, and in a head product, and (vi) again supplying the head product of (v) at mid-height to a third column, and (vii) removing the low boiling products by the head of the third column, and extracting the diaryl carbonate as a boiler product or in side stream, and (viii) by recycling the diaryl carbonate extracted directly to the transesterification process for the manufacture of polycarbonate. |
