A controlled foam formation system specially adapted for use in detergent compositions comprising: (a) a foam forming component capable of providing foaming or soaps without stirring; and (b) a delayed release foam suppressor component, wherein the delayed release foam suppressor component is a built-in silicone foam suppressing agent so that it can be released into a vehicle, thereby delaying the release of a suppressing agent from silicone foam, characterized in that the silicone foam suppressing agent has an average droplet diameter of 1 to 50 micrometers that is incorporated so that it can be released to a water-soluble or water-dispersible, virtually non-surfactant, detergent-impermeable vehicle, and not hydroscopic, the silicone foam suppressor component being practically free of relatively hydroscopic water-soluble and irregularly shaped inorganic salts having a minimum dimension of not less than 0.05 cm and a maximum dimension that is at least one 20% larger than the minimum dimension. |
