titleOfInvention A PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF AMIDES FROM N-ALKYL-PIPERIDINE MONOCARBOXYL AND N-ALKYL-PYRROLIDINE ALPHA-MONOCARBOXYL ACIDS
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0770129/IV(b)/1> and their acid addition salts, wherein R1 is an alkyl group, R2 an alkyl group of less than six carbon atoms, or a chlorine atom, R3 a hydrogen atom, or a hydroxy group, an alkyl group of less than six carbon atoms or an alkoxy group and R4 is a hydrogen or chlorine atom or a lower alkyl group of less than five carbon atoms or an alkoxy group, or R2, R3 and R4 are all hydrogen atoms. The compounds are made by the reaction of an anhydrous N-alkyl piperidine monocarboxylic acid or N-alkyl pyrrolidine-a -monocarboxylic acid, or the anhydride, ester or chloride of such an acid, with the appropriate aromatic amine or corresponding isocyanate. Examples describe the preparation of (1) N-ethyl piperidine-b -carboxylic acid 2 : 6-dimethyl anilide (2) N-n-butyl pyrrolidine-a -carboxylic acid 2-chloro-6-methyl anilide (3) N-n-propyl pyrrolidine-a -carboxylic acid 2-ethyl anilide (4) N - methyl piperidine - b - carboxylic acid 2 : 6 - dimethyl - 4 - ethoxy anilide (5) N-methyl piperidine - b - carboxylic acid anilide and (6) N-methyl piperidine-a -carboxylic acid 2 : 6-dimethyl anilide.
