abstract |
Paraxylene and orthoxylene co-production process comprising two separation stages. The first stage is carried out in a simulated moving bed system in countercurrent in a chromatographic column (6) with injection zones (1) of loading and (2) of desorbent, which provides an extract (3), a raffinate (5 ) and an intermediate raffinate (4). Distillation of (3) gives very pure paraxylene (10). The raffinate (5) is injected in the second stage into a simulated moving bed system (17) in countercurrent, continuously providing an extract (18) and a raffinate (19). The distillation of the effluent richer in orthoxylene makes it possible to obtain orthoxylene with a purity greater than 98.5%. Application in the joint production of high purity paraxylene and orthoxylene from mixtures of hydrocarbons that contain them. |
