The invention relates to a heat transfer printable material having cold release properties, said material comprises a first flexible layer having a first and a second surface. The first layer is usually a film or a nonwoven cellulosic band. A second layer covers the first surface of the first layer and includes a thermoplastic polymer, such as a hard acrylic polymer or a polyvinyl acetate. A third layer covers the second layer and includes a thermoplastic polymer that melts between about 65 ° C to about 180 ° C. The first layer may be a nonwoven cellulosic web, such as a paper impregnated with latex. The thermoplastic polymer of which the second layer is composed can have a glass transition temperature of at least about 25 ° C. The second layer may also include an effective amount of a release reinforcing additive, such as a polyethylene glycol. The third layer may also include a film forming binder, said binder may include a thermoplastic powder polymer. For an inkjet printhead transfer material, a fourth layer may cover the third layer, said fourth layer includes a film-forming binder and a thermoplastic powder polymer. If desired, a fifth layer can cover the second layer, thereby placing it between the second layer and the third layer. The fifth layer may include a film-forming binder that melts at approximately 65 to 180 ° C. |
