abstract A method to obtain in vitro stem cells from adult mammalian individuals.n n n More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for obtaining in vitro stem cells from adult mammalian individuals, including the human species, which comprises gently disintegrating a tissue sample by using a buffered solution containing a reducing agent and a calcium chelating agent, culturing the disintegrated cells under conditions that keep said cells in an undifferentiated state, for a sufficient period of time for cell clones to appear, isolate and grow the obtained cells, and check their ability to give rise to tissues. With the cells obtained, cell and tissue banks can be generated for biomedical, biotechnological or research purposes.
