A process for the conversion of aldehydes using a molecular sieve and use of the molecular sieve as a catalyst in the process. A process for the conversion of aldehydes that comprises contacting an aldehyde with hydrogen peroxide and with a catalyst, under oxidation conditions, characterized in that the catalyst is a molecular sieve with pores of a diameter of at least 0.52 mm and has a empirical formula in calcined and dehydrated form of (SnxTiySi1-xy-zGez)O2 where x is a mole fraction of tin and has a value between 0.001 and 0.1; y is a mole fraction of titanium and has a value from zero to 0.1; and z is the mole fraction of germanium and has a value from zero to 0.08. |
