titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR MODIFICATION OF THE REOLOGY OF POLYMERS.
abstract A method of reacting a poly (sulfonyl azide) coupling agent with a starting material comprising at least one polymer, to form a polymer modified in its rheology having a melt viscosity at 0.1 rad / s at least 5 percent higher than that of the starting material, but having less than 10 percent gel as measured by ASTM 02765-procedure A, characterized by the combination of steps: (a) forming a first mixture , hereinafter referred to as a concentrate, of a coupling agent of poly (sulfonyl azide) and a first amount of a first polymer, which has at least one CH bond that can react with the azide, or a liquid that does not require its polymer separation, hereinafter the diluent; (b) forming a second mixture of the first mixture with a second amount of at least one second polymer having at least one C-H bond that can react with the azide; and (c) heating the coupling agent for a time sufficient to result in the coupling of the polymer chains, wherein the starting material is the second polymer.
