abstract |
A process for manufacturing an article of cellulosic composite material, the process comprising the steps of: (a) combining a phenolic resin with a cellulosic material to form a mixture; (b) Form an iron from the mixture of step (a); (c) Consolidate the iron with heat, steam and pressure in a pressing apparatus to form the article; and (d) Provide before step (c) an aqueous solution of aluminum chloride to the mixture, said solution providing approximately 0.2 to about 0.6 percent by weight of aluminum chloride with respect to the total weight of the mixture of step (a). |
