abstract The invention relates to a process for the production of compounds of formula (I) comprising reacting a compound of formula (II) with a compound of formula (III) in the presence of a strong base and a palladium catalyst (0) and at a high temperature and in a solvent that does not adversely affect the reaction. The compounds of formula (I) can be subsequently processed to compounds of formula (V) that are useful in the treatment of, among others, migraine.
