titleOfInvention POLYCARBONATE PREPARATION PROCEDURE
abstract Polycarbonate preparation procedure. Process for the preparation of polycarbonates by reaction of a diaryl carbonate and a dihydric phenol that uses the steps of successively processing diaryl carbonate and dihydric phenol in the molten state in a first reaction stage, a second reaction stage and therefore minus a first polymerization stage, and change the processing conditions to obtain the desired low viscosity, high level plugged product. The ratio of diaryl carbonate to dihydric phenol in the melt before the first reaction exceeds 1.08 and the temperature and residence time in the first polymerization stage is controlled to provide a polycarbonate product having a flow rate in the molten state at 250 ° C greater than 10 g / 10 min and a level of capped ends of at least 90%. The process of the invention can be used in a linear manufacturing process, in which a single product is produced, or it can be incorporated into a multi-line manufacturing process for the simultaneous production of more than one product.
